Work consists of routine technical duties.

Examples of Work

Dusts and lifts latent fingerprints from evidence. Makes plaster of Paris casts at crime scenes. Assigns master file numbers; alphabetizes name index cards; sets up fingerprint cards by classification formula. Classifies fingerprints for identification cards and makes preliminary classifications. Files criminal and applicant fingerprint cards by master file cards; searches files for records requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of modern methods used in fingerprint classification and identification. Ability to take inked fingerprint impressions. Ability to compare and classify fingerprints accurately. Ability to maintain and use fingerprints and fingerprint files.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and experience in fingerprint classification and identification.
