Under limited supervision, performs advanced-level geospatial services and/or directs administrative and managerial work for a geospatial program within an agency.
This is a professional-level position that may function as a first-line supervisor or as a coordinator of advanced geospatial duties.
Provides advanced geospatial support, serves as technical lead, and may supervise geospatial staff. Organizes, assigns, directs and review projects completed by team members. Manages geospatial content related to program success. Serves as an expert on spatial technology matters. Creates, adopts and modifies geospatial standards and procedures. Advises staff and coordinates the design, development and implementation of new systems and applications. Conducts outreach to internal and external users of spatial data and geospatial technology. Supports geospatial strategic planning efforts within the organization. Defines needs, requirements, and specifications for projects that leverage spatial data or geospatial technology.
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Ability to exercise judgement and discretion. Knowledge of an agency’s mission, programs, and objectives. Ability to interpret and apply rules and regulations. Ability to manage work and provide guidance to employees. Knowledge of management principles. Knowledge of advanced geospatial concepts. Ability to manage multifaceted geospatial programs and coordinate complex geospatial projects. Knowledge of geospatial data, software, and cartographic design along with terminology used in conveying geographical information. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and/or software related issues.
A bachelor's degree in a related field, or an associate degree with relevant work experience, or an approved acceptable equivalent.
