This class is reserved for a supervising attorney of a complex state agency which is authorized by the Attorney General to regularly undertake and manage a large volume of litigation.
Supervises attorneys conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions, briefs, pleadings and arguments for various types of litigation. Drafts legislative bills, resolutions and amendments. Conducts complex legal research and prepares memorandums concerning legislative acts and court decisions. Represents the state in major litigation involving a state agency. Assists in formulating and administering policy for a state agency.
Knowledge of theories, practices and principles of effective management. Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina. Knowledge of agency policies, standards and procedures. Ability to supervise and motivate employees. Ability to interpret and apply policies, laws and judicial decisions. Ability to establish priorities. Ability to express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically.
Member of the South Carolina Bar. Admitted to the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina.
A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school and experience as a practicing attorney.
