Associate Public Manager (APM)

If you are a new or experienced supervisor or you just want to sharpen your supervisory skills, consider a certification through the Associate Public Manager (APM) Program. Interesting coursework and practical work-related discussions help you acquire the skills and knowledge you need to be a successful supervisor in today's changing workplace.

Courses

 

You can complete the APM Program by enrolling and completing the required classwork as your schedule allows or you may complete the program as part of a cohort group. In order to earn the APM certification, employees must complete all requirements of the program within three years. Employees who participate in an APM cohort group will complete the required coursework on a set schedule and will have access to a mentorship program. Each APM cohort will generally complete the program in eight to 10 months. 

Agencies that choose to have employees complete the program as part of the cohort group will pay for the entire program up front but will pay a discounted price of $595.00.

Agencies choosing to have employees complete the program outside of APM cohort group will pay for each class individually as the employee completes the class. The prices for each class are provided in the table below.

Employees interested in taking some, but not all, of the classes included in the APM Program may register and complete the above classes individually outside of the APM Program.

 
 

Mentorship Program Summary (APM Cohort Group Only)

Employees who complete the APM Program as part of a cohort will have the opportunity to take part in a mentorship program.

  • Agency leadership will be asked to nominate employees who will serve as possible mentors for Associate Public Manager participants. 
  • The intent of the mentorship program is to provide APM cohort participants with access to an experienced state employee who can help them navigate employment with the State and learn the aspects unique to public employment.

 

Additional Information

The application deadline for the 2018 APM Cohort Program has passed and applications are not being accepted at this time.  The application for the 2019 APM Cohort Program will be available in 2018.
